Keep the private X-API-Key in backend or serverless secrets, never in browser code, URLs, logs, or chat prompts. Use server-to-server requests without an Origin header. Do not ask me to paste the key into this conversation.

Use the paginated search endpoint for navigation. Handle empty results, nullable fields, expired cursors, and documented error and rate-limit responses. Do not assume every MLS supplies every field.

Identify missing requirements and leave clearly marked placeholders for the MLS attribution and display rules Agent Winds supplies during onboarding. Do not treat placeholder compliance text as launch-ready. Confirm account activation and MLS approval before testing with real data. Show me your integration plan before implementing it.

Can I build my own real estate website with ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes, an AI coding assistant can help write your website and API integration. Agent Winds supplies the IDX connection, OpenAPI documentation, and integration assistance. You still need a backend or serverless function, approved MLS access, testing, and the required listing disclosures. The specification is an integration guide, not a one-prompt guarantee of a finished website.

How do I get MLS listings onto my custom website?

Start with your MLS and brokerage approval requirements. We walk you through requesting access, configure the approved feed in our middleware, and provide a private API credential scoped to your approved source. Your backend requests listings from Agent Winds and supplies the data your website displays.

What is the difference between an IDX API and an IDX plugin?

An API provides data your developer or coding assistant uses to build a custom experience. A plugin generally supplies a prebuilt integration or interface within its supported platform. Choose an API when you want control of the interface and can maintain the website code; choose a packaged solution when you prefer more of that interface already built.

Can I use this with React, WordPress, or an AI website builder?

The API uses server-to-server HTTP requests and JSON responses. Your chosen platform must support a secure backend or serverless integration, either directly or through a developer-built service. A browser-only site cannot safely hold the private key. We review your stack with you rather than promising a native plugin for every builder.

What does one MLS mean? Can I connect two?

One MLS means one approved listing-data source, not one state. A market can span more than one source. The base plan covers one website and one MLS; additional approved sources can be configured for an account. Contact us to agree the scope and pricing for multiple MLS feeds before setup.

Are MLS fees and engineering support included?

MLS fees for the included source, integration assistance, and ongoing support are included in the $129 monthly plan, with a $200 one-time setup fee. You can work directly with Craig on the IDX integration. This is not an unlimited custom website development allowance.

How fast is the API, and how fresh are the listings?

The API offers paginated search, separate detail and photo endpoints, and bounded map results so an integration can request the data needed for each screen. Response time depends on the query, result size, and network. Listing freshness depends on feed synchronization, not request speed. We review refresh behavior and test representative queries for your integration; we do not publish an unmeasured latency or uptime guarantee.

How long does IDX API setup take?

Timing depends on MLS and brokerage approvals, feed readiness, and your integration. We discuss these dependencies with you before confirming a setup timeline. Creating an API key alone does not mean the feed is approved or ready to launch.

Does this include a website, hosting, CRM, or AI assistant?

No. This product supplies the IDX API and integration support for a website you build and host. It does not include a finished website, CRM, map interface, or built-in AI assistant. If you want us to build and manage the full website, explore our managed website plans.
